In March a new pasting machine made in the USA by world’s the leading supplier of battery equipment, Wirtz USA, was successfully installed at the Korean facility. Discover Energy provided the funds for the new machine, underscoring their commitment to increase productivity, quality and capacity at the Korean factory.
Through this investment as well as other measures the output capacity of the licensee factory of iQ Power Asia achieves a further substantially increase. Following investments in the assembly area, the increase in capacity will make a significant contribution not only to shortening lead-times and increasing customer satisfaction, but will also contribute to making the South Korean factory economically stronger.
The further measures include activities which will allow the manufacture of high capacity super heavy duty truck batteries. The first super heavy duty truck batteries with iQ technology will be introduced in Q3 this year.
Using the iQ Power technology for heavy duty batteries with high capacity has long been a goal of iQ Power Licensing. Due to intensive use, heavy duty truck batteries have much shorter lifetimes than car batteries. The large batteries are a multiple times more expensive than car batteries and the cost of sudden battery failure is much higher. Therefore, the life-extending iQ Power technology is a perfect solution for this market.
